Live Stockpile
Measurement

What is StockPiler

StockPiler is an automated bulk materials measurement system
applying edge compute technology to data from a cluster of fixed LiDAR scanners
to generate immediate volume measurements.

Stockpile Data Anywhere,
Any Time

Know your inventory levels now. StockPiler generates live results in a sleek user-friendly dashboard that can be accessed anywhere, at any time.

Automated Stockpile Measurement

StockPiler provides accurate stockpile measurement on demand, without the need to deploy survey crews or drone operators. Run instant scans, or automate the process with scheduled scans

Schedule Logistics
Based On Precise Measurements

With StockPiler you can schedule ships, trucks, and trains based on precise measurements of bulk assets. Reconcile actual volume and mass against weighbridge figures for regular audits. Trucks come and go, stock levels are always changing. Know the state of you company’s assets at all times.

What Is Stockpile Measurement?

Stockpile measurement determines the volume and mass of various types of commodity stockpiles. Stockpile data can be calculated using several methods, all with varying accuracy. The foundations of stockpile measurement are data collection, and data calculation.

Previously, workers had to estimate volume and mass using manual methods and GPS, or hire external surveyors, drone operators or aerial mapping companies. Delivery of this data could take weeks. With Stockpiler the process is immediate, and much more accurate.

Stockpile measurement is crucial for a broad range of industries ranging from mining through to agriculture. Accurate stockpile volumetrics gives a company better insight into their inventory, allowing critical decision making based on real data. It increases productivity, reduces costs, and maximises profit.

There are strict regulations surrounding materials in various industries in Australia. Accurate stockpile measurement assists companies in meeting these regulatory requirements, reducing the risk of penalty.

Previously, workers had to estimate volume and mass using manual methods and GPS, or hire external surveyors or drone operators. Management would then be required to wait extended periods for the data to be calculated and made available. New scanning and calculation techniques means that the process can be much faster, and much more accurate.

What Industries Use StockPiler?

The Hardware

StockPiler is a integration of the most appropriate hardware for your installation. The system runs on a Linux computer in a weatherproof enclosure, with network control of the scanners and authenticated access to the data. Innovative software architecture enables customisation of the design and functionality of the system.

How Does StockPiler Work?

The StockPiler hardware includes an integrated cluster of LiDAR laser scanners installed and calibrated at the warehouse, port, mine, or facility where assets are stockpiled. StockPiler data can be accessed via web browser or integrated into current business systems.

StockPiler scans the surface and produces an accurate 3D point cloud comprising millions of points. It generates accurate data, measuring precisely the surface of the material. The edge complute capability allows StockPiler to calculate the accurate volume of a stockpile, separated into zones, or converted to mass by applying the bulk mass density.

StockPiler leverages edge compute, as used in other products by Klau Geomatics such as the Brumby Airborne and Mobile Laser Scanner. Bringing the compute capacity to the device means the results are available within minutes.

The architecture in the code is built for versatility in the application of the device to give further site-specific data. For example, StockPiler could be adapted to measure flow rate, change detection or biomass, according to requirements.

StockPiler gives users insight into the state of stockpiles, helping to protect against any loss due to mismanagement of materials.

The Team Behind
StockPiler

StockPiler was developed by the team at Klau Geomatics, a company that changed the world of aerial mapping.  Klau Geomatics led the evolution of PPK, greatly increasing accuracy and efficiency in UAVs and light manned aircraft. The team were also responsible for ground breaking products such as MakeItAccurate and Brumby LiDAR.  Click to read more
